The village option, and a good one: simple bandas and a campsite on the banks of the Katuma, five minutes from the park gate, with hippos grunting below. This is where self-drivers stage before an early gate entry, and the only camp in the area where your money goes straight into the local community.

What the park charges on top
The rate above buys you a bed. Katavi National Park charges its own entry fee for every day you are inside. Here is what that adds up to.
- Park entry$30 plus 18% VAT, charged per 24 hours.

- Vehicle$40 plus VAT for a foreign-registered vehicle; a Tanzanian-registered one is about $9.

Three nights means three days inside, so two adults sharing one vehicle pay $354 in park fees before anyone pays for a bed.

Katavi camps rarely publish prices directly, so always confirm with the lodge. Watch whether a rate includes the TANAPA fees: conservation fee plus concession fee adds about $70 per person per night incl. VAT at a lodge inside the park.
